Illini Union Community Connection

Volunteers

Our Goal

The Illini Union Community Connection allows new students to become involved in the Champaign-Urbana community right from the beginning

Students choose from five issue areas and complete a service project at a local agency during IStart Student Welcome Week.

After the service project, students will receive more information on how they can remain active in their campus and community.

To register for the Illini Union Community Connection, please go to http://www.istart.uiuc.edu

One Day Service Projects

One component of Illini Union Community Connection is a one day service project geared toward first year and new transfer students. Students who participate in the one day service projects will assist at a variety of local agencies during Welcome Week.

Through the one day service opportunities, participants have the opportunity to build friendships and strengthen their connection to the campus and surrounding communities, increase their understanding of how to further get involved in an interest area of their choice, and learn that service is an important part of the University of Illinois experience.
