Student Organization Resource Fee
SORF Standards for 2007-2008
(these standards are subject to change)
- SORF's first standard is to critically review each application and determine
to what extent the activity or event will impact the UIUC campus community
before any funding decisions are made.
- SORF will post online anything that is considered a standard
- SORF will fund up to 90% of honorariums up to $15,000, domestic travel cost for
speakers up to $500, up to $750 for international speaker's travel, and lodging
up to $75 for one night
- Every speaker request that exceeds $4,000 should include a one page document
sumbitted to the SORF Board that includes a speaker biography or resumé, and a
publicity plan for marketing the event
- SORF will fund up to 50% of referee fees for UIUC hosted league games.
- SORF will fund up to 50% of judges fees for UIUC hosted events and competitions
- Retreats, internal or external, will not be funded by SORF
- SORF does not provide funding for practices or rehearsals
- SORF does not fund coaches
- SORF will fund up to 50% of rental space for home games
- SORF does not fund costumes or uniforms
- SORF does not fund spectators to events
- SORF will fund up to 50% for production of journals or magazines up to 4 per
semester.
- For journal/magazine request exceeding $4,000, a distribution plan must be
submitted to the SORF Board.
- SORF will fund up to 50% for production of newspapers up to 8 per semester
- SORF does not fund arts and crafts
- SORF does not fund decorations
- SORF will fund up to 75% of equipment rental on campus and up to 50% of
non-university equipment rental.
- SORF will fund up to 75% of permanenet equipment
- SORF will not fund safety equipment.
- For off-campus travel, SORF will provide funding as follows: SORF will fund up
to $200 per person for travel unless automobiles are being used. Automobiles,
rented or personal, will be funded at $.485 per mile per automobile for up to
3 automobiles.
- SORF will fund only one mode of transportation per trip, i.e. airfare
or automobile, but not both.
- SORF will fund 75% up to $100/night for lodging
- For registration fees, 50% of fees per person (excluding food).
- SORF will fund up to $400 per person for international travel when the international travel is integral to the mission of the group, and $200 per person otherwise.
- SORF will provide off-campus travel funding for transportation, registration,
and lodging for up to 12 people to any single event for any single purpose.
SORF will provide an organization with funding for travel for up to 6 events
per year. Before applying the above standard, SORF will critically look at
the event in question to determine the potential impact on the UIUC campus
community at large and may make adjustments to funding accordingly.
- SORF will fund 50% up to $30 per person for mandatory insurance for international travel.
