Student Organization Resource Fee
Helpful Tips
These tips are intended to make your experience with SORF more productive, efficient and enjoyable.
- Make sure all events and activities include specific dates and locations.
Research your estimated expenses and be as accurate as possible.
- Get your application in on time (all late applications, even by five minutes,
will not be considered until the following funding period).
- If a SORF Board member contacts you via phone or email, please respond. If
the Board has unanswered questions about your application, your organization
may not receive funding.
- Make sure your requests are for specific activities and events (SORF funds
activities and events—not organizations—and will generally not fund items such
as food, computers, etc.).
- Do not request funding for purely social events (e.g., a pizza party for your
club). Follow directions on the application and other forms (e.g., fill in all
applicable areas, etc.).
- Ask questions before completing and submitting your application.
- Do not request funds to support activities which are not open and free to
UIUC students, or which will raise money for your or any other organization.
- If requesting permanent equipment, tell us where it will be stored
(i.e., university property).
- READ and FOLLOW the SORF Guidelines and Restrictions before you apply, before
you spend money, and before you submit an expenditure request.
